How to Prepare Artwork for Custom Printing: File Types and Tips

Good artwork makes a big difference. Here is how to send files that print sharp.

Best file types

  • Vector files: AI, EPS, SVG or PDF scale to any size without blur. These are ideal for logos.
  • High-resolution PNG: use a large file with a transparent background.
  • JPG: acceptable for photos, but avoid small or heavily compressed files.

Resolution

A common guideline is 300 DPI at the printed size. A tiny image from a website will look blurry when enlarged.

Colors

Send brand color codes if exact colors matter. Screen colors can look different from printed colors, so tell us if a color is critical.

Text

Check spelling, names and dates carefully before approving a design. Convert fonts to outlines in vector files if you can.
